Children's diets in this time strapped age contain an over-dependency upon processed food products, including yeast extract, baked beans, tinned spaghetti etc. A recent study has argued that the level of salt put into these foods as they are prepared before being put into tins for sale is at unhealthy levels for children, particularly for those whose diets are heavily reliant on such products.
70% of infants ingest high salt diets, along with cow's milk and bread being the main concern. Dr Pauline Emmett and Vicky Cribb conducted a research which stated that children need special attention to their diets without adding too much of salt.
The study came at a time when the government's new initiative is all about lowering the amount of salt in diets.
